Mother's Room Signs

To make sure the space orientation in your facility is comfortable, every area has to be marked with its specific room sign. Lactation rooms are no exception. Let us find out why workplace lactation room signage and nursing room signs are so important for your business.

What is a Lactation Room and Why are they Necessary for Your Business

Mother's rooms have become extremely popular in workplaces in the US. The reason for this growing popularity is quite prosaic: employers realized that it would be much more beneficial for them if their women workers had a shorter maternity leave. However, maternity leave is not given for nothing. Moms need to be able to breastfeed their babies or at least have the possibility to pump and nurse to later feed a child with pumped milk. Thanks to this implementation, more than 70% of nursing mothers who have children under 3 years old are able to work full-time.

In addition to the ethical and productivity sides of that matter, it is important to note that when a company has more than 50 employees and there are nursing mothers among them, a company is obliged by law to create an ADA-compliant mothers room that is not a bathroom. The design of this room cannot be considered complete without proper breastfeeding area signage or nursing mothers room sign.

The Importance of Mothers Room Signs

Door signs for lactation rooms are designed to inform nursing mothers that their workspace has a special area dedicated to satisfying their basic need for pumping milk. It is very important from the functional perspective because not all new female workers might feel comfortable about asking their colleagues for directions. Perfect door signs eliminate the need for any questions.

What is more, thanks to such a simple sign, nursing mothers might quickly get familiar with the equipment available in use in the area. This can greatly enhance their workspace experiences, eliminating risks for potential health issues and decreasing the number of health-related leaves.

The Difference Between "Baby Changing" Room Signs and Lactation Room Signs

• A "Parents Room" sign is often seen in many public spaces such as shopping malls, restaurants, governmental facilities, etc. The purpose of those signs is to show a mother that she can access an area where she can take care of a baby in comfortable conditions.

• Signs for pumping rooms have a narrower function. These signs are dedicated to marking a very specific area where nursing mothers can pump their milk. This sign is usually seen in workspaces because this is a legal requirement for employers.
